Important News about VPN Access

For secure wireless and remote access to USC resources, USC account holders should now use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client rather than the old Cisco 3000 desktop client.

Although the desktop client will continue to function, the manufacturer no longer supports the software or provides security patches for it. For full security, users should use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client.

Information about how to access and use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN is available at www.usc.edu/its/vpn/anyconnect.

Note to Mac Users Upgrading to Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6)

Mac users who have upgraded to Snow Leopard will need to uninstall and reinstall the AnyConnect VPN client. Please follow the instructions below.

To uninstall the AnyConnect VPN client:

1. Go to your Applications folder.
2. In the Applications folder, click the Cisco folder.
3. Click the AnyConnect Uninstaller and then click Uninstall. The Uninstaller will then request the Administrator password for the computer.
4. Once the uninstaller has finished, you will receive a message that states "AnyConnect has been uninstalled."

To reinstall the AnyConnect client, please follow the instructions found at www.usc.edu/its/vpn/anyconnect.html.
