Important Windows Security Advisory

Microsoft's October security bulletin, released on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, contains 13 critical and important security updates, which are designed to correct various remote code execution vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system, Internet Explorer, Windows Server, Microsoft Office, Microsoft .NET and Windows Media.

If you do not have your Windows Automatic Update feature configured to automatically install updates, it is imperative that you visit the Microsoft website to download and install all recommended updates.

If you are using Internet Explorer, you can automatically download all important security updates at update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/. The Microsoft Update Center will determine which updates your system requires.

If you are using another browser, go to the Microsoft Download Center at www.microsoft.com/downloads/. Under the New Downloads box, click More. You will see a page of updates listed by release date. The security updates all begin with the words "Security Update." You will need to determine which updates are appropriate for your system.

Note: Many of these patches require that you restart your computer.
